The Rundown

  • The NETS FlashPay Singapore travel card is a smart way to pay for your transportation fares. It works just like the EZ-Link and can be used for your rides in the MRT, LRT, public buses, and taxis.

  • Aside from being a stored-value transport card, Singapore’s NETS FlashPay also works as a payment method for your purchases in food courts, convenience stores, and select hawker centers. (You’ll even get some discounts in several Sentosa’s dine-in spots!)

  • You can check the price of a pre-loaded NETS FlashPay Singapore transport card here. You’ll see that it has a very unique design that highlights the country’s best features!

  • Booking options for this Singapore tourist card include pick-up at Singapore CBD and delivery to mailing addresses in the Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Customer reviews are provided below.

  • Don’t forget to buy your connectivity gear as well! Book your Singapore pocket Wifi here or a SIM card here.

  • This feature is part of our BEYOND ManilaxSeoul series, which provides tips and recommendations to travelers going beyond Manila and Seoul.

Travel like a local with a Singapore NETS FlashPay Card

If you’ll travel to Singapore soon, why not take advantage of the NETS FlashPay smart card as you make your way to various attractions like the Universal Studios Singapore and Gardens by the Bay? Aside from getting the cashless experience that locals enjoy, you also won’t have to worry about getting stuck while paying for your rides in the MRT (Singapore Mass Rapid Transit), LRT (Singapore Light Rail Transit), public buses, Comfort & CityCab, and SMRT taxis. With this Singapore travel card, you'll easily slide your way into the train gates or your seats without having to find loose change.

Moreover, similar to the convenience that T-Money in Korea and EasyCard in Taiwan offer, you’ll also get to use your NETS FlashPay Singapore card to make purchases from food courts, convenience stores, and select hawker centers. In fact, users of this Singapore tourist and travel card will get an automatic 10% discount for various restaurants in Sentosa, which include Dusk Restaurant & Bar, Arbora, Good Old Days, Merlion Cafe, and Show Bites!

But should you get an EZ-Link or NETS FlashPay Card?

If you’re familiar with the EZ-Link that Singaporeans also use, you may realize at this point that it’s very similar with NETS FlashPay Singapore. Here’s our take: whichever you choose to buy, you’ll enjoy the benefits of having a smart travel card that’ll make your touring hassle-free and enjoyable. However, since at the moment only the NETS FlashPay Card is available for booking with Klook (which is nicely-designed and pre-loaded, by the way), we’ll give more preference over NETS since you can use a Klook promo code to lessen your spend.

You may also top up using any General Ticketing Machines at the train stations or TransitLink Add-Value Machine Plus (AVM+), which are installed in several stations along the North South and East West Lines, as well as the Bukit Panjang LRT. Click here to see the list of AVM+ locations that you can visit.

Singapore Transportation Fares: How much to top up?

To help you find out how much money to add to your NETS FlashPay Singapore travel card, here are some key transportation fare notes that may help you with your budgeting:

  • Train Fare in Singapore - ranges from S$0.8-2 (around ₱30-76 or $0.6-1.5) depending on distance

  • Bus Fare in Singapore - starts at S$0.83 (around ₱31-76 or $0.6) for travel distances of up to 3.2km.

If you’d like to get a good estimate of your Singapore transportation costs, you may want to access the MRT/LRT Trip Planner in this website and the SBS (bus) Fare Matrix here.

How to use the NETS FlashPay when riding in Singapore

Just take out your stored-value transport card and tap! It’s that simple.

Here are some more notes from the Land Transport Authority of Singapore:

  • The balance of your card will be reflected upon entry and successful deduction of fares. You can also do a balance check at any top-up machine.

  • It is good practice to take out your travel card to tap when commuting. This will ensure quicker entry/exit at MRT station and on board buses.

  • The reason is to prevent ‘card clash’— multiple cards detected at MRT fare gates and card readers on buses. As a result, the fare gates and card readers cannot discern which card you would like to use for your commute.

  • This happens when you place a few travel cards together in the same wallet (e.g. NETS FlashPay, EZ-Link, EMV-chipped credit/debit cards, etc.).

How to get a refund for your NETS FlashPay Singapore Card

The actual NETS FlashPay card (valued at S$5) that you booked online is non-refundable. However, if you wish to get a refund of the stored value or remaining balance inside your card after your Singapore trip, you may visit any TransitLink ticket office located at MRT stations or bus interchanges.
